According to Wikipedia "Pinterest is a pinboard-style social photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies and more. Have You Heard of Digital Flash Cards?

Greetings,

I hope you are doing well.  This week we will be sharing with you digital flash cards.
Digital flash cards are flash cards that children use to test themselves when learning their addition and subtraction facts. 

When you play these new videos, you will notice that the numbers are all color coded, which makes learning fun.  You will also notice that the problem will appear on the screen and give your child 5 seconds to come up with the correct answer.  You also have the option to pause the video in between the problems to allow thinking skills.

Counting 1 - 10 with Fun Holiday Videos

Today we are sharing with you my Holiday Counting 1 - 10 videos.  These videos are becoming very popular on YouTube.  You will see colorful and moving Christmas stockings, Christmas trees, candy canes, jumping Christmas trees and holiday wreaths in the snow.

How Many Do You See? Part 1

Free Counting on the Number Line Videos!

Fun Read Aloud Digital Video Stories!

What is "The ABC Song"?

Today we are sharing with you the A-B-C Song.  This is a video we produced with children singing in the background, while different colored alphabet letters are flashing on the screen.  We have also digitally slowed down the audio so your children can keep up with the flashing letters. 

This video has been getting a lot of views on YouTube.  By the way the video is for children who have trouble remembering their alphabet letters.  You can use this video with children from ages 2 - 7.  We hope you and your children enjoy it.

We want to wish all of you a Happy Fourth of July.  Today I am sharing with you a new exciting project I have been working on over the past few months.   I have been spending many hours and time working on a new Who Wants To Be A Millionaire PowerPoint Game that you all deserve to have.  It will be released in a few weeks, so stay tuned. 

If you are watching the current Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Game Show on TV, it will reflect a similar blue and gold theme.  So stay tuned for this project and you can be one of the first to have it. 

In the mean time, you can download the free version by visiting my second most read blog article as of today.  Simply scroll up to the top and you will see a picture of the thumbnail on the left or you can click on the picture below.


Also, make sure you visit my number one blog article that is getting hundreds of visits on a daily basis.  You will be able to download additional free games.  It is titled Free Power Point Games!  You can click on the picture below and you will be taken to these free resources.

Recently, we have been receiving numerous e-mails on how to perform certain activities in PowerPoint. So in a few weeks I will be releasing free YouTube Video Tutorials on PowerPoint 2010.  These tutorials will walk you step by step and hold your hand as you are learning all the new features of PowerPoint 2010.

If you look below you can download an activity that will let you build control text boxes.  You are probably asking what are control text boxes?  Have you ever wondered if you could type while a PowerPoint show was playing?  Well control text boxes allows you to do this.

Have You Started Broadcasting on YouTube?

Today I am so excited to let you know that I am now on YouTube. That’s right I have created my own broadcasts  or TV shows on YouTube. You can share ideas, how to videos and resources for free on YouTube.  To check out my channel, you can click on the picture above or simply click here.  As of today, I have posted 13 videos with more to come over the summer.

You can start your own broadcast with a digital camera and using Windows Movie Maker.  You can check out the blog article I wrote November 29, 2009 for the free online tutorial.  If you have the new Windows Live Movie Maker that comes with Windows 7, then click here for a free video tutorial or click on the video below.

To start your own YouTube channel simply visit: http://www.youtube.com/   and follow the instructions on how to start your own YouTube account. If you are an elementary, middle school or high school student, make sure you get your parents permission before starting your own YouTube channel.

Deal or No Deal PowerPoint Game!

I hope you had a great weekend.  I have been getting a lot of great feedback on all the games that have been posted on my blog.  Today I am sharing with you one of the students favorite games.  This is a game you want to save toward the last few weeks of school. 

Click on the picture above to download the folder for the Deal or No Deal Game.  Once you download it, you will need to keep the audio files in the same folder the game is in.  Here are the instructions on how the fifth graders played this game last week for our technology review. 

1. You can randomly draw the students and they can pick a number on the money game board. 

2. The teacher clicks on the number and reveals the cash amount and question.   

3. The student needs to get the correct answer to win the amount shown on the slide.

4. To get back to the money game board, click on the house on the bottom right of the slide.

5. The number the student just chose will be replaced with an X on it.  Also, you will need to click on the rectangle that had the dollar amount and it will go away.

6. Have some scratch paper ready where you can write the amount the student wins.  Give it to the student to hold.

7. The teacher continues to draw more names and students pick different numbers.

8. The winner of the game is the student who answers the correct question with the highest dollar amount written on their scratch paper.

Another option you can use are small rectangle post it notes with the dollar amount written on it.  If the student misses the question you can add an effect by tearing up the check.  Make sure you tell your students you are playing with play money.

You and your students will enjoy this game, especially with the deal or no deal music playing in the background. You will need to click in the boxes on the slides to type your own questions before you and your students play the game. 

You do not need to type the answers to the questions on the slides.  You want to make sure you have the correct answers to all questions at your fingertips.  I hope you enjoy this game.  I will see you next week with another exciting topic.

I hope you are having a great weekend.  This is the PowerPoint that all of you have been waiting for.  Simply click on the picture above to download the free game.  Make learning a fun and enriching experience for your students.

All you will have to do is click in the text boxes to type the questions and the answers for your students.  Once you have saved it, save it again and rename it.  You can continue to create different Millionaire games by saving the template with a different name.

This game can be used with any multiple choice review or exercise.  As you move up to different money amounts the questions need to be more challenging.  One way to play the game is you select a student to come to the front to go through the questions. 

The rest of the students are going to be part of the audience.  If the student misses one question, then you can select another student to play. The student also is given three choices to get help.

1. 50:50 - With this option, you take away 2 wrong answers and let the student choose the correct answer.

2. Telephone Call: - With this option, the student can choose to talk to another student for 30 seconds regarding identifying the correct answer.

3. Take a Poll: - With this option, the teacher will take a poll for the correct answer.  While the teacher says the letters the students are suppose to raise their hand on the one they think is correct.

When you are playing this game, make sure you turn on your computer speakers and listen to the great sound effects.  Your students will love this game!  I will see you next week with another exciting topic.

Free PowerPoint Games!

I hope you are doing well this week.  Today I will be sharing with you how to download free PowerPoint games that you can use with whole group instruction with your students. 

All you have to do is come up with the questions and let the students play either individually or as a team.  I personally used the Sunken Treasure game with my students last week to help them review for a technology exam.  So, make sure you turn on your speakers to hear the special sound effects in the games.

1. Sunken Treasure: To download this free game, simply click on the picture above.

Instructions: Divide into Teams or use individuals.

1. Pick a board to play. All game boards have a treasure hidden in different places. So if you use the game several times be sure to choose a different game board to prevent students from guessing where the treasure is located.

2. Each team or individual is asked a question. If they answer correctly, they are allowed to choose the box on the screen which they believe the treasure to be behind.

3. Teacher then clicks that box to reveal what is behind it.

4. The first to find the treasure wins. If the teacher still has questions to ask, just start the PowerPoint over and choose a different board.

2. Align the Stars: To download this free game, simply click on the picture above.

Instructions: Divide into Teams or use individuals. There can be up to Six teams. However play by more than three teams is not recommend, as it is very difficult to get four in a row with so many teams. The colors are: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple.

1. Choose the number of stars required to win. Such as 3, 4, or 5 in a row.

2. Each team or individual is asked a question. If they answer correctly, the teacher will click the star until it changes to that teams color.

3. First team or individual to get the desired number of stars touching wins!

4. Stars can align in rows, columns, or diagonally.

3. Car Race: To download this free game, simply click on the picture above.

Instructions: Divide into Teams.

1. Each team is asked a question. If they answer correctly, click their teams color button to move their car.

2. Five correct answers will cross the finish line and win the race.

4. Horse Race: To download this free game, simply click on the picture above.

2. Seven correct answers will cross the finish line and win the race.
